Draw

The very first Drawing For Wellbeing Day took place on 25 February 2026.

The aim of the Day was to highlight just how beneficial drawing can be, in many different ways.

It’s a simple, tangible creative activity that requires little time and few materials, but can be expressive, calming, mindful, absorbing and fun.

Drawing For Wellbeing Day encouraged organisations, groups and individuals to draw, to arrange events large and small on or around the Day, and to share how they got on using the tag #drawingforwellbeingday2026

The theme of this first Day was Ready Steady Draw, with a focus on quick and enjoyable ideas. Free activity sheets were available, with a variety of drawing suggestions.

A variety of groups took part, from community arts groups to a museum, a library and a smallholding with alpacas! It was fantastic to see the creativity and experiences shared. Thank you so much to Art For Wellness CIC for sharing the wonderful artwork below, just some of the pictures and bookmarks their participants created on a butterflies and dragonflies theme for the Day. And do read their blog about the Day at https://artforwellnesscic.co.uk/drawingforwellbeingday2026-drawing-for-wellbeing/

Thank you.

Like all art and creativity, art roots us in life, grounds us when we struggle, expresses how we feel, absorbs us in the moment and connects us in community. And drawing is quick and simple, with no setting up, clearing away or mess. All you really need is a pencil or a few pens and a sheet of paper.
Time and again people say “But I can’t draw”. I think drawing can do such a lot to enrich life that nobody should miss out. And it’s not about being good at drawing. It’s about drawing to do yourself good.
So look out for the second Drawing For Wellbeing Day next February, and get ready, get set, and draw!
